The Alcatraz Backpacker Hostel is centrally located in the middle of Berlin's trendy district Prenzlauer Berg in former East Berlin.

Not far away from our hostel was the Wall, dividing Berlin into East and West. Now, only the “Mauerpark” commemorates this period of history. Today, Prenzlauer Berg is a vibrant district full of life where both residents and tourists stroll through its many shops, clubs, cafes, bars, nightclubs and restaurants.

Whether you are travelling by yourself, as a couple, with a bunch of friends or as a larger group: the Alcatraz Backpacker Hostel offers a friendly and cozy atmosphere for its international guests. The house was colourfully decorated by local graffiti artists and is a popular photo opportunity both for passers-by and our guests alike.

In our typical Berlin building we offer a cheap and individually styled accommodation with numerous complimentary amenities. Among other things, you have a kitchen for communal use, lockable cabinets in the dorms, PC's for surfing the internet (also wifi), table football and much more absolutely free of charge. Best conditions to spend a few nice days on a low-budget in Berlin!

From now on the entrance door to the hostel is secured with a code lock at nighttime. Please contact us via email, should you plan to arrive after 11 p.m. We will then share the access code with you.

Total and complete independence: that's what our appartments promise you. Equpped with your own bathroom, kitchen and common room with tv they are a marvelous alternative for those of our guests, who like to cook and eat for their own in their private kitchen.

It is considered one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in all of Berlin, the Lucia Christmas Market at the "Kulturbrauerei" in Prenzlauer Berg. It is not only the name "Lucia" who seems extraordinary, but the whole atmosphere of this fine little Christmas market. Lucia is dedicated to the Christmas market in the culture of the Nordic-Scandinavian countries.

The historical architectural ensemble of the culture brewery with its two courtyards is magnificent for a romantic Christmas world - in the middle of the city. The richly decorated and ornamented building of red and yellow brick stand for the industrial architecture of the 19th Century. In these buildings the composition of 40 Christmas Market stalls are particularly atmospheric.

This Christmas market connects a contemplative atmosphere with a warm and cozy ambience. Visitors can warm themselves at swedish fires, children can jump at a abungee trampoline or spin on a nostalgic swing ride for a few laps. Quiet Nordic-Scandinavian music completes the experience.
